The District 8 CDC was pretty chaotic this year. We were stationed in the newly remodeled Chesterfield Mall. I arrived at the event at 6:50 a.m. to begin setting up some of the days festivities. We had a shortage of tables and chairs, but that usually happens. I helped my advisors set up their events and then we tried to locate an empty storefront for the District headquarters. After an hour, we still were having trouble setting up headquarters. At 8:15 promptly, we began the testing process. I competed in two events, the chapter Community Service Project and Financial Analysis Management Team Decision Making. My role-plays/presentations for both events were back to back, and then for the rest of the day I was free to help out. We sold iClick shirts, did voter registration, and sold District 8 t-shirts. We sold about 20 iClick shirts and about 5 D8 shirts. These figures aren't that impressive, but taking into consideration how much time we spent just trying to set up headquarters, its solid. All proceeds from the District 8 t-shirt and the iClick shirts will go toward our total for MDA. At State this year, we are going to have everyone buy a District 8 t-shirt. In order to honor the district winners, the DECA chapters have agreed to pick up half of the cost of the shirt and the student will pick up the other half. As far as MDA goes at Districts, we had a "miracle minute" prior to the awards ceremony where we raised 100 dollars collectively. The awards ceremony was a nightmare! I had no microphone and had to announce winners by yelling at the top of my lungs in the food court. I made it work, but now my voice is basically gone. I ended up winning 1st place in Financial Analysis and 1st place in the Community Service Project as well. I hope everyone is doing well and can't wait to see you all!

Hey everybody. District 3 CDC went really great. We've had our district competitions in the same mall for a while now, and have got things into a pretty solid pattern. I was worried that the snowstorm would mess us up a little, but all the schools made it with no problems, despite the fact that most had been out of school all week prior to the competitions! We had no big setbacks that I can think of, over all everything ran really smoothly.

Before the conference, we took orders for Krispy Kreme Donuts from all of the participating schools, and distributed them in the morning. I got up super early to go and pick them up, and in case your wondering, 70 dozen donuts WIll fit into a '99 Ford Contour, but dont plan on looking out the back window... Lol. The schools seemed to really like having hot donuts in the morning, and we ended up making about $175 dollars off of them. Also, we raffled off a free tuxedo rental, and a manicure/pedicure to raise more money for MDA. This didn't go over as well as I had hoped, but we did make a little money, about $50 dollars.

On a more personal note, I competed in Restaurant and Food Service Management, and the Public Relations Project with Kristin. We took first in the project, and i also took first in one of my roleplays and RFSM overall.

Having our DCDC has gotten me super pumped for State, I can't wait! I hope everyone is doing good, good luck with your own District Conferences! See you all soon!!

Well, Elise pretty much summed it up. To add to that, the day was a lot of fun. Considering all the chaos from the snowstorm, it ran pretty well. It was probably the least nervous I have ever been for competition - probably because I kinda HAVE to be at State! Anyway, like Elise said, our PR Project took first and I also won first place in AAM. We haven't decided yet if we will be taking our project our individuals.
Can't wait to see you all at State!

The D6 CDC went really well, especially considering the problems related to changing dates and venues. I won’t enumerate all of the specific issues, but it was definitely an interesting day. The members had a really good time, and District wide MDA fundraising is on track. Between the puzzle and the competitive fundraiser vs Howell (which we won), my school has contributed over $700 so far. I know we can easily get at least $1000 is cash donations.

I placed 1st in MMS and 1st in SMDM. I will be competing in SMDM at State with my good friend Ryan Mertz. My school will be sending about 30 people to state, and we don’t mess around when it comes to making noise and bringing home the hardware.

Allie, Jordan, and Lauren worked really hard at the Conference, and there are countless members, advisors, and judges that deserve our gratitude as well. Everyone is really excited for State, and I know all of our D6 qualifiers are working hard to sharpen their competitive edge. Prepare yourselves for another year of D6 Domination!

P.S. I apologize to all of the people who caught my cold. Get well soon!

Like Wes said,D6 Competition went really well, but we did have a few mishaps throughout the day. We were supposed to have a hypnotist show but the guy called and said he was sick, so we had to have a kid from my school perform magic tricks. Then we didn't have a stage so that made the awards not as exciting. A positive for the day was we raised over $600 for MDA with Jordan's puzzle fundraiser. I also placed first in my Travel and Tourism Team. Can't wait for State! Please try and get your district totals to me as soon as possible. Thanks!
